Research Material: Hollowed out asteroid

You’re creating something (novel, webcomic, animatic, mood board) science fictional. And you decide that you need something like this.

Art by Jesse Reklaw for a graphic novel that I wrote, Hard Light. This is the hollowed out asteroid of Pokhara, where a lot of the novel takes place.

When I was writing this graphic novel (the art was finished because I ran out of money), I did not know about this article.

Stability of a rotating asteroid housing a space station

In this study we present how to estimate the necessary spin rate assuming a cylindrical space station inside a mined asteroid
and discuss the implications arising from substantial material stress given the required rotation rate.

So, now you have an advantage over me. You can create a hollowed out asteroid city and have the math to back it up!

Music I’m listening to and liking

From Bandcamp description: The Furthur Electronix label unearths four astonishingly killer vintage tracks of tribal breakbeat mutations from Tusken Raiders, a short-lived alias from Mike Paradinas that ran between 1995 and 1999.

Techno crossed over with industrial. Pretty timeless in its now-ness.
